Dragon's tail tag
Type: tag game
Number of players: 10 or more
Location: small playing field
Equipment: one "dragon's tail" per player
Duration: a few minutes
Preparation: none

Dragon's tail tag is a tag game for groups of 10 or more players. This variant is played by each participant individually. It can also be played in groups, see Dragon's tail tag in groups.

Equipment

Each player needs a "dragon's tail". Typically, some smaller cloth is used for that (scarf, glove, sock, etc.)

Procedure

Each player represents a dragon. They put their "tail" in the back pocket (or their belt) so that is fixed but can be seen and easily removed by simple pulling.

Once the game starts, all dragons try to catch the tails of the other dragons while protecting their own. All dragons that have lost their tail are out of the game. Winner of the game is the last remaining dragon (or all remaining dragons after some predefined time).

Variant

  • Often, the game is more fun for larger groups if a dragon without a tail is NOT out of the game. All the stolen tails have to be put in the bag pocket just like the own one. When trying to steal a tail from another player that has already got several tails, only one may be taken at a time.
