Type: running game
Number of players: 10 or more
Location: running field
Equipment: none
Duration: a few minutes
Preparation: none

Tortoise and Hare is a simple running game for any number of participants. The players will have to run a lot, so it is great to exhaust them. The basic idea stems from the fairy tale "The Tortoise and the Hare".

Equipment

You don't need any equipment, but maybe you want to use ropes to mark both ends of the playing field.

Procedure

At both ends of the playing field, one of the trainers is kneeling down. They represent the "Tortoises" of the fairy tale. The participants are in the middle of the playing field, representing the Hares.

Then, one of the Tortoises stands up. The first player to reach him is out of the game (wins it), the other players have yet to finish their task. They have to reach the other trainer, as both are switching (one is kneeling down, the other standing) up. So, both Tortoises can alternatively be reached to quit the game.

As players might have the idea to just keep standing need one of the Tortoises, they only stand up when the other players are far enough away (they can define for themselves, what that means).
