Hammer throw
Type: coordination game
Number of players: any number
Location: outdoors
Equipment: socks, (tennis) balls
Duration: arbitrary
Preparation: none

Hammer Throw is a coordination game. It is a variation of the Olympic discipline suitable for kids and younger participants.

Equipment

For each "hammer" you need:

  • one sock
  • one tennis ball (or something similar, take care not to use anything that could hurt participants!)

If only a lower number of participants take part, one hammer might suffice. With many participants, you might want to use more than one hammer!

Procedure

The procedure can be adapted to your requirements (available space, number and skill of participants, etc.). Typically, the players participate one after the other and try to throw the hammer as far as possible in a predefined direction. The person with the farthest throw (after some tries) wins the game.
