Train (or railway) is a simple game while standing in a circle. The players need to concentrate to get all the moves and sounds right.

Equipment

You don't need any equipment.

Procedure

The participants are standing in a circle. Their hands are held in front of their chest, with the index fingers pointing upwards. Thus, each player represents a railway crossing with open railway crossing gates. The game is done by repeating moves and sounds, that overall represent a train moving along the circle.

  • (opened gates): index fingers pointing upwards
  • (gates closing): index fingers slowly moving so they point towards each other, sound of a bell warns approaching cars
  • (approaching and breaking car): pushing head towards the gates, making noise like a breaking car
  • (train moving by): moving head from right to left, making noises like a steam engine (ts-ts-ts-ts)
  • (gates opening): index fingers move upwards again, bell noise
  • (car leaving): head moves between the gates and rides on

All players make those moves and noises after each other. This results in one train moving in a circle. So, the players have to take care to start to close their gates in time!
